configuration or htdocs files. This is similar to how APACI now works. For the configuration files, the @@...@@ tokens are expanded, and the file called conf\*.conf.default. Then it is _copied_ to the corresponding conf\*.conf _only if_ that file does not exist. If it does exist, it displays a messagebox saying "Preserving file XXX", like APACI. [PR#2118] For the htdocs, the manuals are always installed into htdocs\manual(*) However htdocs\index.html and htdocs\apache_pb.gif are not installed if they already exist. So this will now not overwrite the user's index.html file. [PR#2084 -- for Unix, but applied to Win32 as well] Note: under APACI the manuals are not installed if htdocs exists. On Win32 htdocs\manuals is installed. This is because we add a menu item "Apache Documentation" which launches explorer to read the docs, so we really want them installed. (* if the installation type includes manuals, that is). A couple of other fixes: - always create cgi-bin and htdocs directories, even if the manuals are not being installed PR: 2118, 2084 git-svn-id: https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/branches/1.3.x@81178 13f79535-47bb-0310-9956-ffa450edef68

number is above 60000. The Apache Default of #-1 is interpreted by these kernels as a huge positive integer, and semctl() fails with EINVAL. A NOTE was added to the httpd.conf-dist file to warn about such a problem. I was mislead into thinking that ReliantUNIX had semctl() problems, but the reason was a wrong group id; the ReliantUNIX 5.44 fallback to USE_FCNTL_SERIALIZED_ACCEPT was therefore unnecessary, I reverted to the old default. git-svn-id: https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/branches/1.3.x@81168 13f79535-47bb-0310-9956-ffa450edef68

loaded under runtime (`LoadModule') via the DSO mechanism: 1. The list of loaded modules is now a dynamically allocated one and not the original statically list from modules.c 2. The loaded modules are now correctly setup by LoadModule for later use by the AddModule command. 3. When the DSO mechanism for modules is used APACI's `install' target now enables all created `LoadModule' lines per default because this is both already expected by the user _and_ needed to avoid confusion with the next point and reduces the Makefile.tmpl complexity 4. When the DSO mechanism for modules is used, APACI's `install' target now additionally makes sure the module list is reconstructed via a complete `ClearModuleList+AddModule...' entry. 5. The support tool `apxs' now also makes sure an AddModule command is added in addition to the LoadModule command. 6. The modules.c generation was extended to now contain two comments to make sure no one is confused by the confusing terminology of loading/linking (we use load=link+load & link=activate instead of the obvious load=activate & link=link :-( ) This way now there is no longer a difference under execution time between statically and dynamically linked modules. I have examined the mail archives extensively on this issue. It's apparent that apache'c current behavior regarding range-requests for ranges that go beyond the length of the current object is correct. See <9711141658.aa15032@paris.ics.uci.edu> where Roy says: The current behavior is correct. A range which extends beyond the actual length of the entity is possible in cases where a device is attempting to limit the response size (think PDA) even when it doesn't yet know the actual length. At least, that was the goal. So, you all can now sleep at night. git-svn-id: https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/branches/1.3.x@81147 13f79535-47bb-0310-9956-ffa450edef68
