Summary | 0005147: Invocations of external functions preceded by log statements |
Description | Any invocation of an external function must be preceded by log statement. This requirement was previously "Any invocation of an external function must be *followed* by log statement." However, often there is no way an external function invocation can be followed by a log statement - when used in return statements, or conditionals for example (which is surprisingly often the case).
|
Additional Information | External functions called within an expression or inside return statements should also be preceded by a log statement either outside the scope of the expression or directly before the return statement. It will be non-trivial to establish the scope of the expression in all possible contexts. This may need to be further refined once preliminary results are available after the initial implementation.
